The Secret Identities Universe Illustration….
This illustration took me a really long time. But it was important to me to do, as my fellow editors (Jeff Yang, Parry Shen and Keith Chow) have been talking for awhile about a drawing by one of our contributing artists of all the characters from the book.
So I thought to myself….well….why don’t I do it?
This illustration has atleast 1 character from each story. I wanted to put every single character in, but there simply wasn’t enough room on the page. The original drawing is done on a 2 ply smooth 14×17″ bristol page.
Anyway, I’ve gone ahead and posted the 3 different stages it took to complete this piece. The first being pencils, then inks, and finally the finished grey tone version.
Just for the record, I used a 3H lead pencil. Which is a hard lead that helps create a sharp clean line. I then used micron felt tip pens to ink it. And I used a much looser “hand” to ink it with to help create a more organic sketch feel to it. And finally I used some prismacolor markers to add grey tones to it.
This original piece will be displayed at the Time Warner Building in New York May 21(thurs) as part of the Asian Heritage Month art exhibit. There will also be other pieces from contributing artists from the book as well as another piece from me.
Anyway, hope you like the drawings and as always thanks for coming by.

So I literally just got home from this event. And I am exhausted. I forgot how tiring it can be just sitting in front of people and sketching.
But it was great to be out and spreading the word on Secret Identities. It really makes all the hard work worth it when you get to see how excited people are over the project. And it was even greater to see people from ECAASU in February from Rutgers!
Hearing how we(Jeff Yang, Parry Shen, Keith Chow and I) touched people was really very touching for me.
So I was able to take some pictures of people with their sketches today. Unfortunately, when it was really busy, I just totally forgot I even had a camera on me. So these are literally all the pics I had taken.
Here is where we were sitting before people had entered the hall.
And here are some pictures after they things got started.
And finally, here are some pictures of the people I did some sketches for. Thanks to everyone for being patient and sorry to all the people that I had forgotten to take pictures of.
Ooohhh…before I forget, here is a picture of the REAL hero from the day, Jeff’s son Hudson with his Uncle. Both of them sporting the nifty Secret Identities mask/flyers.
So thanks to everyones support today. And hope you all get to see your pictures online soon.
And sorry for my poor blogging skills. I’m totally a non-blogger…even though I have this. And have no clue as to how to set things up…and…will probably never take the time to learn.
Peace.

So there are three things for me to say on this post.
First off, our very own editor in chief Jeff Yang did a interview on ABC News!
How cool is that???
Anyway, to see the interview go to this link:

Not to be outdone, our very own Managing Editory Parry Shen has done this awesome 10 minute documentary on how Secret Identities came to be. You can view that here:

And finally I just wanted to post another sketch I drew on the inside cover of Secret Identities. This sketch is of Sunfire, from Marvel Comics. And this copy of the book will be going to Ningin.com. For a raffle I believe. Hope you guys like it.
And just to end things. We just found out that amazon.com has sold out of all copies of Secret Identities. Atleast…until they reorder some more(I hope).
So until next time.
Thanks for coming by again.

Soooo I know it’s been awhile since my last post. And I apologize about that.
Anyway, I wanted to take the time to show the newest tee shirt that I just designed. And literally just sent to the factory to have done. This design is based off of a japanese devil mask.
This shirt will also feature a new screened label on the interior of the shirt. I am getting rid of the woven label I’ve had in the past. as…I find labels on the inside of tees in general rather annoying.
But all the tees will still have the sleeve labels…as….I always have loved having those on my tees.
Also, I am adding a line of text on the back of the shirt going down the spine vertically. I am hoping to add this to a few of my tees going forward.
Hope you guys all like it.
This tee will be printed on a Galaxy colored shirt. Which in my opinion is going to be the next cool color for dudez to be wearing.
Until next time.
